What We Believe
Parkview Church is a congregation of Christian believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. We belong to the denomination of The Global Methodist Church whose foundation rests on the total authority of Scripture, salvation in Jesus Christ, and on the teachings of John Wesley. As a Global Methodist Church, Parkview's mission is to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His love to all people in our community and beyond, to spread and live out scriptural holiness, and to be led by the Holy Spirit in all that we do. We have a diverse and dedicated team of pastors and staff who work tirelessly to serve our congregation and carry out this mission.

Our beliefs are summarized in the Apostles Creed.
The Apostles Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic** church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

Our Beliefs
Scripture
We believe that the Scriptures, consisting of both Old and New Testaments, are the inerrant word of God in the original manuscripts. They are the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men, and are the divine and final authority for all matters of Christian faith and life.
God
We believe that there is one God, the Creator of all things, infinitely perfect, co-equally and co-eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Jesus
We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He died on the cross as the atoning sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. Jesus Christ rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and is now seated at the right hand of the Father making intercession for believers as a High Priest and Advocate.
Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit presently glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ by convicting people of sin, regenerating believing sinners, and indwelling, leading and empowering believers for godly life and service.
The Holy Trinity
The Holy Trinity is the Christian Godhead of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. One God in three persons. Each person in the Trinity is equally God with one another. Each person is the same as one another, and yet, each person is also distinct from the other. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirits exist in a divine relationship or dance of love with one and unity with another for all of Eternity. God the Father is the eternal source of origin by which the Son and the Holy Spirit proceed from. The Son is eternally generated from the Father, or is begotten, not made or created. Jesus has authority over all the Heavens and the earth. The Holy Spirit is the breath of God (or the Spirit of God) and is responsible for giving all things life. The Son comes to do the will of the Father, and the Holy Spirit testifies to what the Son has said (John 14:16). Lastly, it through sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the Son, on the cross, that humanity is granted participation and unity with the Holy Trinity.
The Mission of God
The mission of God (or the Missio Dei) is God's mission to heal, save us from sin and death, to spread salvation to all people through Jesus Christ , to dwell in us through the Holy Spirit, restore us or redeem us to our original image. The Church or the Body of Christ participates in the work of God or the Holy Trinity by being filled with the Holy Spirit, taking on His mission, and by becoming the hands and feet of Jesu Christ in the world.
Man
We believe that man was created in the image of God, but sinned and therefore is now lost. Only through the regeneration of the Holy Spirit and the atoning sacrifice of Christ can salvation be attained.
Salvation
We believe that the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ and His bodily resurrection from the dead are the only provision of salvation for all who believe; all and only those who receive Jesus Christ are born of the Holy Spirit, and become children of God by grace through faith alone.
Jesus' Return
We believe in the imminent return of the Lord Jesus and this has a vital bearing upon the conduct and service of the believer. We believe in an end time, bodily resurrection of all the dead; of the believer to everlasting joy and blessedness in the presence of the Lord, and of the unbeliever to an everlasting and conscious punishment.

The Three Graces of God
Everything exists in this universe because of the grace of God. Now, the founder of Methodism, John Wesley, believed that Scripture testified to three particular graces that come from God: Prevenient Grace, Justifying Grace, and Sanctifying Grace. Prevenient Grace is the grace of God that we receive BEFORE we accept Christ and His gift of salvation into our hearts. It is this grace that is executed by the Holy Spirit, which convicts unbelievers of sin, protects them from total destruction, and that helps lead them to salvation in Jesus. Justifying Grace is the grace that we receive IMMEDIATELY upon being "born again" or accepting Jesus into our hearts. This grace JUSTIFIES us before God the Father, it makes us right before God, and it is the grace that allows us to be adopted as God's children. Sanctifying Grace is the grace of God that occurs AS SOON AS we are justified. This grace comes because as soon as we are saved, we receive the Holy Spirit who cleanses us of all unrighteousness and original sin and allows us to become more like Jesus today than we were yesterday.
Entire Sanctification or Christian Perfection
Entire Sanctification is the belief that it is possible for us to totally be delivered from the power of sin and the flesh (the finished work that Christ provided for us on the cross) in this life and live in a state of holiness or "Christian Perfection." This is not "perfection in the sense of "divine perfection." Humanity was created with the purpose of loving God and others. Therefore, the term Christian Perfection does not refer to a "divine perfection" or the perfection we think of when we think of God. However, it is a relative perfection based on the purpose of our design that we were made for when we were first created. Therefore, it is possible, over time, through the submission of our total will unto God, for a born again individual, to eventually become entirely sanctified and enter into this perfection during their lifetime. So, what is Entire Sanctification or Christian Perfection? It is the total love of God and others that is not wavered by sin. Entire Sanctification does not happen at death (as many believe), but it only occurs by the blood of Jesus, and it is this sanctification that prepares us for Eternal Life with Christ when we die.
